This is an unofficial AOSP ROM build for Moto G4 Play, that brings the treats of Android Oreo on the device. In this guide, we show you how to install Android 8.0 Oreo on Moto G4 Play using unofficial AOSP ROM.

Memorize this is in a development stage and may find some bugs. So, some features or apps might not work properly on this ROM.

Note : You’ll need to Root and Install TWRP Custom Recovery in-order to Install the AOSP Android 8.0 Oreo Rom on Moto G4 Play.

Some of the new Android Oreo features that you will find in this ROM are, the picture-in-picture mode, integrated doze mode, notification channels and a lot more.

How to install Android 8.0 Oreo on Moto G4 Play using unofficial AOSP ROM

Step 1. First Unlock your Moto G4 Play bootloader and Install TWRP Recovery.

Step 2. Download Android 8.0 Oreo (AOSP) ROM for Moto G4 Play and Gapps from above link and move to your phone internal memmory

Step 3. Reboot your device into TWRP Recovery.

Step 4. Now in the TWRP main menu, Click on Wipe and swipe to factory reset on the bottom of the screen.

Step 5. Go back to the main menu in TWRP, tap on install and select the Android 8.0 Oreo (AOSP) zip file which you have saved in your device.

Step 6. After the installation process is completed, You will see Wipe cache/Dalvik option, tap on it and Swipe to wipe.

Step 7. Now, Go back to TWRP main menu and repeat the same process for install GApps.

Finally reboot your device. It will take few minutes to complete the first boot.
